MW 2.0 Account totals

In MW 2.0 the account balances shown in the Accounts view no longer reflect all open transactions.

There is at least one other thread on the need for a schedule manager to allow future transactions to be shown, so I will restrict this comment to manually entered future transactions.

If i choose to mark these as Open, that is because I know they are going to be taken from my account (usually in the next few days) and wish the shown account balance to reflect this. If I did not want that, I would leave them as Pending.

For me, and I suspect others, it is unhelpful and makes no logical sense to have the balance at today's date shown. After all, it does not even reflect the likely balance at the bank - purchases I have made today are included in the balance even though they will not be presented to the bank for one or two days.

So please - can we at the very least have a preferences option to have the balances reflect all Open transactions - as was the case with MW 1.7?

I'm not sure if we are having the same issue but in 2.0, my balances were not calculating (only the last 10 were showing a balance and it was incorrect. I went to the initial balance for a particular account and changed the total by 1 cent and all the transactions calculated. I then changed it back to the correct amount. That triggered something in the database to do what it was supposed to do. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill, but no - that is not the issue. All the balances (left-hand pane under the account view) are calculated but only up to today's date - not future transactions that have been set to Open as explained in my comment.

As a follow-up to this. in the heading of the Accounts/Cash flow pane, MW 2.0 claims that the accounts are under the cash flow balance - by the total of the future Open transactions. This is part of the same bug/feature.

    Hello,

Yes, there was an issue where MoneyWell was not counting open transactions with a future date. It should be fixed in 2.0.1. Are you still seeing that problem?

    Roger,

Is it the bucket or account total that is not including future open transactions? Or is it both?

The account total does not include future open transactions. The budget total does.
