MW 2.0 Split transactions

There might be a preference setting to alter this behaviour, but like others, my pref panel is blank.

First impression is that the ability to track bucket balances is a welcome benefit with the update.

But split transactions are now much more difficult to view, particularly if these are transfers.

In the Accounts view the only way seems to be to bring up the info panel and click on split - but then the window that appears seems to allow editing even of a locked transaction.

In the buckets view, there is no indication of the underlying account transfer (eg source account for a split deposit). There was always a bug with MW 1.x that components of a split never showed the source account - it allowed one to be entered but then the debit was taken twice - once for the parent and again for the spllt children - but at least the methos of viewing mad clear what was going on. Now we seem to have lost even that.

I also have an issue with the split transaction screen - there is no option for Cash Transfer when I get cash back on a debit card transaction.

    The issue I saw today:

I bought something that cost $15. Only $10 was applied to my credit card since I had a $5 credit. I want to track that $15 came out of expense bucket A and call the $5 credit as something that went into income bucket B.

In MW 1.7 I could do a split transaction with a $10 total, $15 out of bucket A and $5 into bucket B. (EDITED TO FIX VALUES)

In MW 2.0 I tried to do this but the $5 kept getting turned into a negative so I had $10 left to allocate on the split. However, if I went directly to bucket B I could change the $5 there to a deposit instead of a withdrawal and that seemed to fix the split. Looks like a bug.

    Roger,

I do see what you mean about splits with transfers. I'll ask Kevin to review this.

    Thanks,
    Tamara

    scrooks,

I can't reproduce that issue. I tried the following:

    1. Create a new transaction in an account.
    2. Give it an amount of $10, because that will be the total of the transaction.
    3. Click the Split button.
    4. Change the first line to -$15.
    5. If "Automatically add remaining amount" was checked, then I immediately got a second line for positive $5.

    rwyatt-
you can definitely do it correctly in version 1. there is a "cash transfer" option in the split screen. but that button is missing in version 2.
