How can I sort transactions in the transaction detail window so that they appear by date and then by check number and/or payee? Is there a way to change the opening balance in an account?

There's no way to do multiple sorts on the Transactions List at this time. You can only reverse the order by clicking the header column a second time. You will be able to add a user-defined order to transactions within a day similar to the way you can drag and drop buckets and accounts to order them.

There is an FAQ for creating a starting balance transaction: http://moneywell-help.nothirst.com/faqs/banking-and-account-balances/bankbalance

I cannot drag and drop transactions within a day to order them (using 1.4.12 (262)). If this were possible it would make using Moneywell much easier.

Javed: That ability will appear with the 1.5 release of MoneyWell. There isn't a way to do it in 1.4.

Thanks Kevin, I guess I should have noticed the word "will" in your first post. Good to know the feature's coming. As always you are quick with your replies and I have more and more reasons to move away from my complicated (but personalised) spreadsheets to Moneywell.

I thought it's just me. I've been looking in the threads discussing transaction sorting.

I like MoneyWell a lot. However, i'm irked by the ordering of transactions on the same day. I wish the time component is part of the date. I think that's the easiest way to implement this sorting. Incremental sorting is not much of a need right now for me. I just need my transactions sorted by date and time. Is this possible on the next update, 1.4.13? :)

Thanks for a wonderful app. ;)

Luigi: Transaction order is maintained in 1.5 and you can drag and drop to reorder them in your preferred way. Banks don't transmit times with dates.
