Possible to implement quick entry?
Hi there, big fan and obvious customer of moneywell. I love the software and love that you allowed it to be contained in the latest macupdate bundle which is how I obtained it.
One feature that I would LOVE to see and here your opinion on is the ability to have a "quick entry" option like most GTD apps including, things, the hit list, omnifocus, midnight inbox, etc...
A great idea is the stance contactizer made by offering the opportunity to have a small "helper" app run on every login so you can quickly enter/view information via hotkey. You can enter tasks, see what's on list for the day, just perform simple tasks, available universally in any application your in by pressing that hotkey entering your info w/o contactizer every having to run. Leaving feature rich applications running just to have a quick entry is a bit of a pain as it consumes more of your cpu than truly needed. That one helper app was the reason I bought contactizer in the first place.
So, what do you think? Could this option, helper app, ever appear on your "implement one day" list? The ability for us to enter a transaction, check a balance, and more without ever having to open moneywell.
I am very eager to hear your response. I know that this is not going to happen overnight but I'm sending this email to somewhat get your opinion on the idea of having simple moneywell tasks/view available universally so that it could be accessed with just a hotkey within any application, i.e. Safari and other apps a user constantly works in.
Thank you for reading this and taking the time to send me a response. Again, can't thank you enough for the wonderful app! Good tihng I am not in debt or else I'd be buying debt quencher off you, lol. I did check it out though after I discovered how nice moneywell was... debt quencher lived up to the beautiful UI and intuitive guts that moneywell has.
Please keep up the great work and making great applications. Lastly, if you ever need a guinea pig for some beta testing I would be more than happy to help, I can give reference on projects I've contributed too. Doesn't matter what app it is, if it's a nothirst app, I am going to try it. Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion.
MoneyWell for iPhone is coming and that may be a nice quick entry app. I've seen the Quicken widget but found it ran a bit slowly for a "quick entry" solution.
My goal is to have MoneyWell load so quickly that a smaller solution isn't necessary. Running some tests under Snow Leopard, MoneyWell is loading in one Dock bounce with a 13,000 transaction file. I'm not sure I could do better than that but I'll keep this suggestion on the list.

Moneywell is way too fast to need it's own separate application to enter transactions. What would be best now that I have transferred all my info and see it handles it amazingly well is simply a global hotkey. I could leave moneywell running in the background and have a quick assignable gobal hotkey that I could enter a transaction quickly from whatever app I am in. I think this is much more reasonable than my aforementioned "helper application."
Thanks for the quick reply Kevin, hope you read this! I don't want to post again though, not right to make another discussion thread. I look forward to seeing moneywell continue to grow, global hotkey or not.
