Selected transactions for reconcile?

MoneyWell confuses me during reconciliation when it selects transactions that are still open and that were entered on the same date as the closing date on my statement.

My closing date for my last statement was 06-15-2009 and it just so happened that I wrote several checks on 6-15-2009 that had not cleared when I went to reconcile. I assume because these transactions fall within my closing date MW selects them and marks them red just as it did the other transactions that fall within the statement opening and closing dates. This makes reconciling a little more difficult because if I select all the red transactions I won't be balanced because those open "boundary" transactions shouldn't be included as reconciled.

My suggestion would be to use a different color for transaction that might be potential reconcilable transactions or simply don't style open transactions that fall within the statement date ranges with the red color. In fact it seems like these transactions should be grey like the transactions that fall outside the reconcile date window.

If a transaction has a date that falls within the statement date range, then it is a candidate for reconciling under that statement. Just because it's a check doesn't mean that it can't clear immediately.

They are marked with red so you can see the open transactions easily. They won't hurt your reconciliation if you leave them open. Just check off the ones that match your statement and the reconcile will complete correctly.

I'm not sure I'm getting my point across...

If you download your transactions daily like I do then the cleared transactions should match the bank statement. With MoneyWell including transactions that are open and falling within my bank statement's dates in the reconciliation window I can't take advantage of the automatic reconciliation feature of MoneyWell. I have to go through each of my transactions (all 150 or more of them) and check them off one by one which takes a considerable amount of time.

All I'm saying is that if open transactions weren't considered then the "green arrows" would work better and I could reconcile with a single click.

But if the Open transactions were not included, then people who manually enter transactions would never be able to use the one-click reconcile.

I do understand your need and there are feature requests open to take care of it. One is to allow you to reconcile cleared transactions with one click. Another will auto-reconcile after a download from your bank.
