It would be nice if there were a Preference for Automatic Memorization. That is, every transaction is memorized, rather than only those that the user explicitly selects to memorize.

There is a preference for that. Check out MoneyWell > Preferences…

I missed that. Anyway, I realize now the problem I had isn't actually with Automatic Memorization. It's with Payee matching: you must type a minimum of 4 characters to get a match, even if fewer characters are sufficient. When I typed "Rob" to match "Robert Smith" in MoneyWell, I expected it to match. When it didn't I gave up and posted the previous erroneous bug report.

That's not true either. You should be getting auto-completion after the first character you type.

Let me know what version of OS X your running and on what Mac please.

Weird. I somehow memorized a transaction called "Rob" even though I have no actual transactions called "Rob". Thanks for making me dig further. I discovered Quicken can't handle simple integer arithmetic and is showing me erroneous balances on some of my credit card accounts. MoneyWell gets it right. I'm even more glad I'm switching to MoneyWell.

If you have the auto memorization turned on in MoneyWell, it's easy to create memorized transactions just by assigning a payee and typing or selecting a bucket name.
